Liriomyza fricki

Liriomyza fricki Spencer, 1965

Somewhat related to Liriomyza trifolii but apparently restricted to Washington state and some parts of Canada (Spencer, 1973).
The genitalia are reliable to distinguish the species from other Liriomyza of economic significance.

IMPORTANT CHARACTERS
Adults
Wing length: 1.4 - 2 mm. Last dc much longer than the first ones. On mesonotum only two rows of acrostichal hairs present. Femora always yellow, tibiae and tarsi normally darker than femora.
Male terminalia
Ejaculatory apodeme considerably enlarged.

BIONOMICS
Leaf miner.

HOST PLANTS
Fabaceae: Medicago sativa L., Vicia villosa, Trifolium hybridum and Lathyrus (Spencer, 1965, Spencer and Steyskal, 1986).

DISTRIBUTION
North America: restricted to Washington state and some parts of Canada (Spencer, 1973).

ECONOMIC IMPORTANCE
None recorded. The species is included because of its similarity to Liriomyza trifolii.
