Agromyza yanonis (Matsumura, 1916)
This Japanese species is similar to Agromyza ambigua (Sasakawa, 1961).
IMPORTANT CHARACTERS
Adults (after Sasakawa, 1961)
Wing length: 2.9 - 3.4 mm. Lower frontorbital bristles only weakly inwards directed. 3rd antennal segment somewhat angulate. Middle tibia without median spine.
Immature stages
Mandibles with two large mouth hooks of nearly equal size and smaller ones. Hairs above the facial mask and below the mandibles present. Posterior spiracles with three bulbs and four tufts of spiracular hairs.
BIONOMICS
Apparently only one generation per year.
The mine usually starts near the apex of the leaf and than proceeds downwards.
HOST PLANTS
Hordeum vulgare hexastichon Achers. (barley), Triticum aestivum L. (wheat) and Alopeculus aequalis Sobol (Sasakawa, 1961).
