IMPORTANT CHARACTERS
Adults
Wing length: 1.9 - 2.3 mm. Very conspicuous greenish sheen on both, thorax and abdomen.
Male terminalia
Aedeagus with long and narrow terminal tubules.
Immature stages
Long anterior spiracles, similar to Melanagromyza dolichostigma and Melanagromyza koizumii. At puparia the anterior spiracles are conspicuously curved.
BIONOMICS
A pod fly; often mining only on the pod surface, sometimes also penetrating the seeds.
HOST PLANT
Known from Lablab purpureus (= L. niger) (bonavista bean).
DISTRIBUTION
Africa: Uganda, Tanzania, BMNH-material: Kenya.
